It is one of 'those' weeks in army when you wonder why must you serve. The physical and mental shag-ness has been brought to a whole new playing field in Liaison. From Ex. Nawaki to Ex Firetracker, days just couldn't past any slower with all the physical and mental torture they put you through.

But one thing I ask, is that God come and fill our lives. Many times I stumble, many times I struggle. When I look back upon these times, I see that it is He who is carrying me.

2 weeks has gone by, and there is not a single day that I am not over you. The impact you have on the lives of the people around you (myself included) is just tremendous. Settle, enjoy everything that you do and may the Lord walk with you, bless you and keep you.

I held back my tears as I watched you pass through the gates and stepped foot to what will promise a better future for you. There is a saying that you'll know how much someone means to you only when he/she leaves, how wonderful, but true it is.

As it donned upon me that you were going to leave, I thought through the times that we went through together. From that awkward moment when we first met in Sec3 till the awkward moment we waved goodbye. Every memory I treasure deeply, even the times when Cold War broke lose (trust me I really treasure every moment).

i decided not to receive the hug from you because there are many opportunities for it. But I salute you for always placing a smile on my face, I salute you for the strong friendship that you tirelessly maintain, I salute you for always being a fierce, fierce friend, I salute you for who you are.

Even as you are studying abroad, it is my greatest prayer that you continue to place God first in life. Let Him show you the path to walk even in a foreign land. I pray that you use this opportunity to make full use of your life in UK and be a positive influence to your course mates and the sphere of influence God will put you in. I pray that during times when you feel lonely, you are reminded that there is a friend in Jesus ready to receive you.

OCS has been a hell of a time. Life there is a mad rush (except for days where there's self directed learning). Training has been good and Sierra Wing is starting to feel like home. I've completed my first 4 weeks of OCS, so that's another 34 weeks to go. This is going to be a fast week considering the national day holidays. I'll be heading for Tekong next week for section field camp.

It's been a month since I last posted something...
BMT is largely coming to an end and I really enjoyed myself here, other than the tons of route marches and drills which don't make any sense to me. But I am coping well. Just suffered a bout of flu and cough which affected my 12km route march. Going to retake route march because of that. Other than that, I'm looking forward to POP and block leave, where I can regain my pre-NS life. Meeting people, attending parades and catch up with sleep.

Fact 1: The opposition has little, if not no, experience when it comes to governance. Opposition (as the name suggests) is only capable of opposing. If PAP were the opposition, it can do the same and get the same support.

Fact 2: People in position cannot satisfy everyone. Having been in position of authority I know. So don't question this fact..

Fact 3: Having satisfied, dare I say, all Singaporeans by providing food and shelter, there is little question the government's provision for Singaporeans. Turning Singapore into a First World Country is an incentive, not the job scope of out government.

Fact 4: There are a few decent opposition parties in Singapore; Workers Party being one. But there are others that should not even exist, let alone contest.

Fact 5: Singaporeans who want change know this, the best kind of change happens from within. After all, it is the heart that controls the attitude of a human being.

Don't let 'change' be the reason for voting a party in. Obama promised change.. from what I know Guantanamo Bay is still in existence.

Vote wisely people.

A Call to Leadership

God has impressed upon my heart the need to assume leadership, but I feel inadequate. The current feeling I have now is like Moses' encounter with the burning bush. Many times I just wish I could answer "O Lord, please send someone else to do it." (Exodus 4:13). But His promises have been manifested long before Moses' was even born when God paved the way for the Israelites to take the promised land.

I hear a call for me to take up a leadership role in the ministry that I am currently serving in. These signs are by no means coincidence. Yet, I am afraid. Afraid that I might not be up to par. Afraid that I am not sufficiently equipped. Afraid that I might make things worse. But His assurance never fails to defeat all these fears that are building inside me. For it is written that we should "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Then all these things shall be added unto you. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself" (Matthew 6:33-34).

As I mentioned before in one of my earlier posts, God, in His word mentioned 365 times "do not be afraid". With a God so big, what is there that I should fear except Him. Everything pales in comparison when God is in the picture. What love is this that He should give His life for someone like me. Someone so insignificant in the eyes of men yet my salvation is everything to Him. Who am I a mere man with no credentials, called to lead His people in this ministry.

Who am I?

It's not about my abilities, my credentials, my significance. It's who He is. He who put the stars in their place, who created everything that roam this earth, the plants, the birds, the animals and us. He who is able to part the Red Sea, tear down the walls of Jericho. He who can call upon 12 legions of angels, heal the lame and cause the blind to see. He who died on the cross...and rose again.

Call be a loser, whatever. But believe me or not, I watch this movie once every weekend. Not because I have nothing to do, but because this movie constantly reminds me of my purpose of being in the ministry I am in today. Serving in church and in the BB has really shifted my focus from the things I have and am, to the things God hold for me and is going to do to me.

So i stand here correcting the theories that conflict with mine. For if the Lord is for us, who will be against us. We prepare the field for the harvest, and God will send the rain.

I don't know about the whole thing that Blaze Boys should not attend chapelthon. Ok if there is a medical reason, lets not gamble with it. But because schedule is tight? Ask me and I would readily give up the recee trip for chapelthon. God will make a way, only if we make time for him. If our focus is to win the race. Then we are wrong. But if our focus is to see God through the race, whether we win or not, we have hit the ultimate focus of being part of this race.

Having asked the Boys in the team what are they in training for. The unanimous answer "to win Blaze" made my heart sink. Because I have failed as an officer in the BB.

So Lord, reveal yourself to these Boys, even if it means last place; but show them that the focus of this team should be you and not the silverware. For a team that races for You receives Your blessings and glory. Amen.

It always is great when I can share my life experience with people because it is through all these that one is able to see God's work.

Prayer is a powerful tool which brings about powerful results.

He has placed me in this wonderful world where I go through many things to see His glory. The thought that He can control my life scares me to the core because I feel small in His presence. But then again, I stand in awe at how He never fails to reveal Himself to me when I pray.

Recently God has impressed upon my heart someone - someone who until recently I was oblivious to. It brought me to a highly uncomfortable level because I'm not used to ministering. Mentoring I'm fine, but to minister seems to be a huge step of faith that I have to take. So I continue to pray, so that one day I may pluck up the courage and pursue this task that the Lord has impressed upon me. God, in His word, mentioned "do not be afraid" 365 times, one for each day, so I should not be afraid of the things that might stumble me for Jesus' footprints are in the sand.

Also, as A level results are released tomorrow, I pray that the Lord grant me the results that reflects His plan for me. So that He can use my results as an indication for me to pursue His works in a larger field. He reveals the way towards full-time, I take the step of faith and go.

Sometimes we really take things for granted.

BB really is a ground where I learn the most and get to learn the most

Each Parade seem to be able to be conducted so smoothly without much hiccups.

But what others cannot see is the number of minds and amount of work which goes into each Parade.

After taking up Orientation as an officer I realise the work which goes behind it. More importantly, I'm not a teacher in FMSS. The teachers have more work to do. Therefore, my deepest appreciation goes out to Mr G. Tan, Mr J. Li, Mr A.Chua, Miss Lily, Miss Sheena and Mr E.Chiok for their hard work in pulling the company together under the guidance of God Almighty.

I've been a member of the online blogging community for close to 4 years now.

And if i'm not mistaken, this post will be the first where i actually express my disdain to certain members of this community.

I'm not sure about you, but i've come across many blogs (by accident or by intention) where writers are critical about others. Too critical for my liking.

There are a rare few who seem to think that blogs are their "personal" space, where they can express whatever they feel.

Though there's some truth in that, i would like to remind these rare few that being a member of the online community, there are certain boundaries set.

Crossing these boundaries are definitely not desirable.

I'm not going to arrow anyone, but seriously, please watch what you do online :)

Year End Reflection 2010

I like to reflect on the year by listening to slow songs. That’s why I’ve placed Westlife’s Leaving on endless loop.

2010, where should I start? I have to admit that the year past really quickly. I’m not sure if I was the only one who felt this way. But somehow I have this feeling that as you grow older, the year seem to past faster. Probably it is life’s way of telling us that we don’t have much time.

I wouldn’t be surprise that this year’s reflection is much shorter than the past few. Firstly, I haven’t been out much or experiencing much as most of my time is spent in school. Secondly, there are tons of incidences this year which I would prefer be left untold.

Being thrown into a new environment this year was one of the many situations in life that I had to adapt to. God always have his way of teaching me. I would see the transfer to 09S24 as one of them. Firstly, I was plucked from a class with 11 girls and 2 guys and placed in a class with a well balanced mix of gender. This in itself was something I could learn from. Those who know me well will know that I can connect better and understand girls much better than guys. So the first task I had to do in 09S24 was to command the respect of my classmates. More importantly, live life with all the rough play which I hardly condone. As much as it was God’s way of teaching me, it was also God’s blessing to me. You might think I’m crazy, but I love friendly competition. It was something that I didn’t have the entire of 2009 when I was in 09S13. 09S24 was different because I was academically challenged by my classmates, which I enjoyed and used to my advantage to push myself harder. By the end of the year, I must admit that I’ve grown to enjoy myself in class. And I thank God that the petition to stop the disband of 09S13 did not pass, because I’m sure life would not have been the same – though I cannot conclude that 09S13 would have been worse.

Studying for 6 months does have its benefit. I did not leave the house as often as I would have wished for. The thought that I have many months of holiday after A-levels has kept me at home. But more importantly, it gave me plenty of time to think through my life. One of the things that I constantly thought about is my growth. Everyone has a story to tell. And I’m glad that mine happened during a period of my life that my memory serves me best. From the time I took up position as the CSM till now, I’ve seen the remarkable growth in my life where recognition for achievement is no longer as important as it was to me. After 10 years in the BB, I realize that my leadership skill is in mentoring. I found joy being the NCO Council 2009/2010 Primer and advisor to every new batch of KAH. As much as I would like to leave my CSM days behind, it really laid the foundation for my growth. It opened doors to new knowledge on nurturing my successors.

12 years of formal education comes to an end on the 29th November when I placed my pen down after my physics paper. Life ahead will be full of uncertainties but I have learnt to take things as it goes, because tomorrow will worry for itself. Therefore, as I end my annual reflection, I pray and hope that this song will guide you and inspire you as much as it has led me through this year. As 2010 draws to a close, and as 2011 comes, I pray that the Lord will work in all of us.

F1 Racing

F1 season draws to a close tonight

Watched the last race, and i must say i am not disappointed at all

because.... Alonso did not win the drivers championship.

This season has been wonderful.

Red Bull and Mclarens really brought the sport to the next level with all the technical things

Ferrari was a mile away but they have experienced drivers, which place them 3rd in constructors

After this season, i have my eyes on many more drivers who can potentially be in the spotlight in 2011

Kubica in Renault and Rosberg in Mercedes have really proven themselves despite in relatively weaker driving teams this year

As a supporter of Mclaren and Jenson Button, Imust say i'm not disappointed at all with a 5th place finish for JB. He drove with style in almost every race albeit the few technical errors which cost him numerous points.

I promise i'll be there at Marina Bay to see Jenson win the Singapore Grand Prix next year :)

Till 13 March 2011, here's goodbye to the most interesting season yet. See you in Bahrain.

I've really spend the past few days resting, reflecting and watching F1

Resting because Prelims just ended and i need a break (i wouldn't say well deserved as of yet)

Reflecting because a great deal of shit happened just before prelims which i had no time to bother about

and obviously watching F1 which i also do so often.

I must say.. Hamilton is really screwing McLaren's chances to the constructor's championship

Button, i can tell is always doing his best. Even if he retires, it's for good reasons and not becasue of reckless driving. Hamilton on the other hand was doing too much. Both at Monza and now again in Singapore.

F1 aside, I will continue to support McLaren because i support the constructor and not the driver. though Kubica is really catching my eye.

Prelims were fine, and if you read my previous post on my ranting (well not really) on the maths paper, i already know my results. quite pleased though paper 1 needs more work.

Finally, I've been thinking back about whatever happened just before prelims.

As i look through my archive in this blog, i realise how much we've been through and all.

It brings we great pain to end things off like this.

Each phase of our lives tell a different story.

I clearly remember every promise i made and everything we've been through.

From the time you sat beside me during math class to the countless hours on the phone.

From the first time i walked you in to PJ to the countless 985 rides home.

I have no intention to break my promises and never will have.

To end a friendship like this is beyond what a human being can imagine.

So my phone is always on for that special phone call....

I was just telling Shaun about how we should appreciate our government because PAP could easily stop the burning of the Quran if it ever happens in Singapore.

And a few hours later, this news (click link above) appeared on the FRONT cover of The Strait Times.

Then i thought to myself.... this government needs better people in there.

Recently there was some guy who got caught for flaming (or did he do something else.. i don't give a shit) DVB...

So we'll try to stop finger pointing cause he might not be directly involved in this case... though his ministry is at the center of this bullshit.

Now, let me tell the government why having these free shuttle services will NOT encourage Singaporeans to go to the casino.

Firstly, Sentosa is on an island... i would rather go to MBS cause there's MRT straight to it's vicinity.

Secondly, these buses do not go to every heartland, i hardly even see these buses in Jurong, although it is one of the destination these buses bring people to.

Now, let me tell the government why cancelling these free shuttle services will NOT stop gamblers or whoever from going to the casino.

Firstly, the entry fee is F-ing 100 bucks, paying an extra $2 or whatever the price is to get onto the monorail is.... dismal.

Secondly, most people who use the service are young people who, don't even the legal rights to get in there, so they're using the service to get to the theme park (or whatever they have at Sentosa, which they find interesting but i find a complete waste of time)

So before the government or in particular MCYS jump in and create a mountain out of a kind and loving gesture from RWS... they should read this post and be embarrassed for not using their grey matter....

PM Lee: Show Singapore Spirit during YOG

The PM in his pre-National Day speech mentioned somewhere near the closing that

Singaporeans should show the Singapore Spirit during the Youth Olympic games.

I have to respond to that...

Firstly, a successful YOG can never be considered as Singapore's pride, or even Singaporean's achievement. At the end of the day, it's the government's face that's at stake here.

I was never supportive of Singapore hosting the YOG. I'd rather it be in Moscow...

The LTA had to go to great extent painting the roads, asking people to give way to Lyo and Merly

I remember when i was in nepal in 2008. People will literally drive off the main road so that tourist buses can pass. AND all this, without the government telling the people to do so.

If we need to do so much, so that a little 'Singapore Spirit' can be displayed, i'd rather we don't have it displayed at all.

Secondly, YOG happens to fall within the 7th month festival... we definitely have many spirits to show.

as i stare at this space for 30 over minutes,

i come to realise there are certain things that are really hard to put down

the concept of school in singapore context is really blown out of proportion

just when i thought O levels is the toughest it can be,

i'm faced with something called the As...

and even before i can complete thins hurdle,

the thought of my citizenship being taken away from me is starting to fall in. (get the pun) haha

anyway, this period of life seem the hardest, it's either a make or break.

i would definitely want to be in the first category.

But at the end of the day when i wear my green uniform and walk through the gates of PJC

(or if i'm lucky and come back as a civilian, with hair on my head)

i don't want to see my entire 2 years worth of work being displayed as Bs and Cs

This fear is within me, and as i work harder,

i don't know if i should be more relaxed, so that my Bs and Cs would appear acceptable

or work even harder and realise that my As are not easily obtainable albeit the long hours of study and get called a loser if my results come out otherwise

It's not easy being smart.

So guide me dear Lord as I journey

and as i look back and realise only 1 set of footprints in the sand,

JC or Poly

There's this crazy debate on the forums about the JC and Poly

and ultimately the argument is why it is harder for poly students to get into a uni

Here's my 2cents worth...

Firstly, don't look at the poly admission brochure or whatever crap they give you.

As you know, they are just 'advertisements' to lure students into their faculty.

Take for example, you see an advert in the newspaper about face lifting.. with some chiobu there. you don't expect yourself to look like that by the end of N number of sessions right?

Just as JCs attract students through the number of 'value added awards', so do polys with their ads.

Secondly, our cert is an A level cert. An A level cert cannot bring us anywhere in the future

At least a diploma can get you a decent job, just that you start lower in the hierarchy.

Honestly speaking, without a degree from the university, we can basically do nothing. There is a need for the government to provide for this 20% who graduate from a JC, and have nothing but an A level cert.

Thirdly, university courses do open up more spaces to poly students, especially in the technical area. With poly student's experience in more technical and specific faculties, universities would gladly accept poly students in such faculties. But look at FASS. It requires higher analytical skills that is hardly tought at a poly level, but at a JC level. It is no surprise that such faculty would take in majority JC students.

Honestly, i'm saying all these from a JC student's point of view. Call me biased, whatsoever.

But i want to say, without the degree we cannot survive. With your diploma you can survive.

From a neutral point, JC students do go through much more shit and stuff. It's not a curriculum that anyone can go through. Surely the cut off points of JCs tell you something about the rigour. JC dropouts go to the polys and do well there, so you know why they open much more places to the JC students? because they deserve to be there after 2 years of hardcore shit.

No doubt there are poly students who do much better than JC students in terms of academics but lose the spot to a JC student. But hey, that's life dude. Not everything is a guarantee, if it is, we need not live our crappy life under such an education system that favours one side. right?

this week has been crazy. gotten back most results for common test.

As of today I have 3 papers left.

cleared both H1s.. but in terms of results may not clear that easily.

hahha, not a very simple paper i must say.

But oh well, i can always fall back on maths and physics. and hopefully history :)

I'm currently carrying out Operation Gnenitsugua (for history students to understand only)

and my aim is 'To get a good A level Cert'

Into PJ I See

I think I should get this straight

Stop saying PJC is a good school and stuff like that

Stop saying 'wow you're in a JC, you're the top 20%'

Don't get me wrong, i'm not hating the school or what bullshit

and just in case you're going to call the Principal or write into the forum

Let me tell you this, PJC is not a good school but I'm glad I'm in it

Let's admit, we're nowhere near the likes of RJC, CJC, ACJC and many more

but i somehow feel good and happier in there.

I've spend 10 years of my early education in 'elite' schools

so much so, that sometimes, getting a C would catalyse a suicidal thought.

The competition in Fairfield forces me to get my As

and I seem to neglect the whole idea of learning.

Forcing myself to get As through all kinds of methods

(like completing the TYS 10 times, or even putting the textbook under my pillow)

But now, having competitions at an acceptable level

i realise i can study at my own comfortable pace

(and not drain my brain dry)

and still get the As that i used to get.

Isn't this the healthier alternative?

So i'm really glad that I'm in PJC

and i think that i'm able to relief myself from all the unwanted 'stress'

as compared to killing myself by over studying, but in return getting shit results.

With lesser stress comes greater happiness

and i think it can only be done in a school that is average.

I've been actively involved in prophecy in the 2nd half of the year.

(All thanks to the study of Daniel)

Don't mistake me, cause i don't see it as something bad

In fact i'm kindda thankful that it took place at this time of the year.

Cause if it didn't.. i wouldn't have that much balls (figuratively) to explore new things

All these natural disaster shit, environment talks and terrorism crap

would have been another 'event' that shook the world (i love this pun)

The existence of different religions and governments would have been natural to me.

But as i study all these, i come to realise how things were prophesied and happened

How Chernobyl didn't happen as an accident, but a well thought out plan

I just love how the puzzle falls into place but you can't see the entire picture until all has been done. It is SPIRITUALLY refreshing

To God be the glory.

I think growing spiritually is overwrites all other kinds of growth

but i must say, my earthly walk this year hasn't been very great

lots of hurdles to clear, lots of boulders to shift, lots of tunnels to go through

But it brings me back to what i study in the book of daniel chapter 3

God will use 3 ways to teach us valuable lessons

when facing a furnace, he either:

1) Deliver us from the fire and our faith is built

2) Deliver us through the fire and our faith is refined

3) Delivered by the fire into his kingdom and our faith is perfected

These are wonderful things to know and to learn.

I really love yesterday's sermon.

God doesn't want us to be ourselves. Who are we to choose to be ourselves?

God wants us to receive his grace. He gave us the task to spread the word

And i've decided. Since i'm not into evangelizing, i might as well do something else

i.e tell christians about endtime events. events that might put christians in danger

Looking back at my 2009 resolutions, i think i more or less got most of them done.

But this year i've decided not to set any.. because things come unexpectedly

I love to call them 'challenges to complete' instead of resolutions.

I'm going to read Ezekiel, Daniel and Revelations, and put links to info about endtimes

i'm studying quite a lot of prophecy these few weeks

and i hope to find out more as the days go by

as discussed, we don't know when the end is.. but we do know that we are a second closer to it.

this is just a passing thought that i thought (what an irony) i might want to put it down

it has no relevance to whatever is stated in the post's title

now this has relevance to whatever is in the post's title

i'm not sure if things are screwing with me

things always turn sour when i expect it to be beautiful

i'm not sure if the shit is over fermented or what.. but it is not a good sign

It's like finding out that you have 9 distinctions in O levels, but they are all A2s

i really don't know if i should feel happy, or feel f***ed up...

see.. many times i feel as if i'm being used

and i know i'm not, but situations tell me otherwise

PEOPLE tell me otherwise

so i don't know if i am blinded because you are someone special to me

or because i just suck at assessing situations

but whether it is the former or the latter, it really doesn't matter

cause it doesn't change the fact that i would do more, just for you

just for you... if only i am given the chance

Promotional results

today was a generally damp day

i wouldn't call it wet, because not everybody were crying

promotional results were released today

and (as expected) i am promoted

in fact, promoting is not an issue with me.

it's the quality of the promotion that really bothers me.

but there's little i can do

So i promoted with 1A and 5Cs

not very well done, i must say.

but this was result of putting a years' work together.

next year will be J2, and i am sure i'm not really prepared for it

but time continues to tick.

Just a follow up on my previous post.

I am suddenly very curious about end time events

I just pray that God will speak to me in his own special way

so that i may know more about the things to come
